Day 67 - Home Sweet Home!

Luke was discharged from Sharp Rehab Center this morning and it was homeward bound, but not before making a couple of stops. First was the DMV to pick up his handicap plates and then to the pharmacy to pick up prescriptions. When we got to his house we were greeted by Boston and this:

Later on some friends gathered at the house for a welcome home shindig. They got into a jam session playing Rock Band with a couple of guitars, a set of drums and a microphone. Before long Luke had the drumsticks in his hand and was a member of the band!

Needless to say, Luke was elated to be home again.

Now that Luke is home and the steps of his recovery are not daily occurrences, I feel that it is no longer necessary or expedient to provide daily updates. So today's post will be the last of the daily posts, but rest assured, it will not be the last update. I know many of you have made this a daily routine keeping up with Luke's progress and I don't know the best way to let you know when future updates will be posted other than to say ... keep checking back. Luke has doctor appointments on Tuesday and Friday next week, so there will most assuredly be updates those days. I will also post updates every time there is something a significant event.

Please stay tuned!

---Bill

I must say I will miss looking in on you Luke but am sooooo thankful that you are well enough to be home. I know you will contimue to have challenges but living in your own space again will definitely speed your recovery. I also notice that the collar is gone....hopefully that is permanent too! You stay strong and know that we will continue to pray for healing in the nerves and that left arm. Thank you for sharing how God has worked in your lives and being an inspiration of faith. God Bless

We'll miss our daily updates on Luke! But we won't skip praying for you. I stand in awe of our God and the answers to prayer. Luke, how's it feel to be an answer to prayer?! :)

Ecclesiastes 3
1 There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under heaven:
2 a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
3 a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
4 a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
5 a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain,
6 a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,
7 a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,
8 a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.

Thank you, Bill, for your faithfulness in this season. I'll miss the daily updates, but I agree that it is time to change gears. In this bittersweet moment, part of me wants to hold on to what has been, but I know that I know, if I do that, I'll miss out on the blessings to come. So it is with mixed emotions, that I choose to let go of what has been and look to our Heavenly Father for what is to come. This reminds me of the children growing up. In watching and letting them go, I learned that Jesus will be the only "constant" in my life. I also learned that they weren't leaving, they were living.

Luke, know for sure that there is a multitude of prayer warriors that will continue to lift you up before the throne of grace as you journey onward and upward. God does not waste any hurt or pain, but works ALL things together for the good of those who love him and are called according to his purpose.

This brings me to my final point...
Luke, you have a purpose in this life!! Don't ever forget that, pursue it and you will find a deep and lasting satisfaction beyond your wildest imagination!!

Echoing Paul... Peace and Grace to you all!

I have to admit that I still go back to the beginning and read the posts on his progress and pure amazement and awe strikes me everytime. Not only Luke's strength and endurance, but the pure love and dedication from his parents and family proves that LVOE can conquer all. Whether that be the love from God, family, and even stangers. I know that Luke will only progress from here and when he comes back to Meadville to visit, he will be greeted with so many open arms that it will be overwhelming. God Bless you,Luke and your family!

Congratulations on being home:) What great process. I will miss reading your daily blog. That was certainly part of my routine. As soon as I got to work every morning, I checked the blog. That was the very first thing I did. He will remain in my prayers and I look forward to reading about more progress and more pictures. God bless you all

We are so happy that Luke is finally home. It has been a long haul, but with the spirit of God in his heart and leading the way, the end results were nothing but great news. God will continue to provide comfort and healing and things will only get better. Thank you Bill for your constant updates in letting us know Luke's progress. You have been a bright light in this situation as well.

May God continue to bless your family as well. We are thinking & praying for you.
