Day 47 - Picture Perfect Day

Luke started his second day of rehab with occupational therapy working his arm on a couple of workout machines. Then he had a session with speech therapy doing exercises to strengthen his swallowing muscles.

He was served up his cheeseburger for lunch as ordered, which he thoroughly enjoyed as you can see:
After lunch Luke had physical therapy and worked on his standing using parallel bars. After getting into the standing position he worked on raising up on the balls of his feet. After a short rest he then worked on lowering to a slightly squatted position. I was able to snap a photo while he was working out.

After therapy Luke got a very special visitor. Boston came to see him. It was a very happy reunion for both of them.
Since a picture is worth a thousand words, I guess enough has been said. Although today was cool and overcast with occasional showers, it really was a picture perfect day for Luke.

Luke,
I cried seeing the picture of you and Boston because I know that it must have meant a lot to you and to Boston. It struck me though in seeing the pictures that there must be times when you feel overwhelmed and maybe a little alone in the midst of all of this, in spite of all of the love and support that you have. You have some tough decisions ahead that only you can make and a lot of work ahead to get to full recovery. But in those times when you feel like it's too much to take on remember that "God's grace is sufficient for you, for his power is made perfect in weakness." 2 Cor.12:9. Or in other words; His strength is perfect when our strength is gone. He will carry you through this just like he has all the way till now. I pray that you feel his presence there with you through all of this journey. We love you. Hang in there!
Love, Jill

Dr. Bill,
Thanks for the pics, I bet Luke is grateful to be wearing his own clothes again. Luke, don't give in and don't give up, look up and watch what God will do with your arm and in your life. Thanks for sharing your mom with us this past week. It has been a blessed time for all of us. Do not forget your extended family back here in PA is ready and willing to help out in anyway that we can. Just give the word and we'll be there, my friend. Until then, we will be patiently waiting and persistant in praying for you all that our Great God will fight for you, will shower His grace and new mercies over each of you so that each of you will grow in the knowledge of Him, so that you will go and proclaim to the world that there is no god like our God.

Luke,
It's great to see you coming along. I live in East county (Potrero) and do civilian observing on the border. I'll stop in to see you Wednesday this coming week. I've got a guitar lesson close to the hospital. I've got an '81 Harley Stugis in the shop that I haven't ridden for 3 years. I worked to complete my 36 Ford instead. Anyway its a good Christmas to see you progress. Ken

And what a blessing to have friends visit you. We continue to pray for you daily. And Bill, thanks so much for all the updates on Luke's progress!
